Also I did make dryad saddle shoju from the pheasant backs / dryad saddles I found during morel season earlier this year but I never figured out what to do with it and now it's in the back of my refrigerator waiting until it gains consciousness and kills us all
I've been lax. I know my buddy did a run through of the woods in its prime and since then we've had a heat wave so I haven't been sticking my nose out there... hopefully we get some rain. I'll probably go out tomorrow just to see what I can see, as a gauge as to whether or not I should explore other areas further.
We have a wide selection at the grocery store, and if that's not good enough I can call my friend in Vermont who has a mushroom farm and he will send me a big bag. It will be a cold day in He!! before I will trust a fungus I picked.
I agree with you. This is a very interesting thread with some great photos, but I have no desire to forage for mushrooms unless it’s at the grocery store. I’m color blind and suspect that would be a major limitation.
