Stone pipe?

I am new to pipes in general, but I have a background of a lot of diverse hobbies. I thought it would be interesting to try a stone pipe, probably a bent apple style. My research turned up a whole bunch of "alternate use" pipes and one sketchy looking tobacco pipe on Amazon. I know about the Indian catlinite pipes, but I wanted to use other stones. Anyone have any experience with stone pipes, or any reason they are hard to find?

Sorry, I've got no experience with stone pipes but sometime think about owning a Lakota indian stone pipes. I know it's not the same but have you tried a quality meerschaum? My meer gives me a lot of joy and relaxation

A few years back there was a man making rock cobs. Catlinie but they were done well. Although rhey are heavy they smoked well.

I can imagine Stone pipes with classic shapes would be visually pleasing.

When I get back home I will get a picture and post it. I don’t smoke it a lot but it’s a great pipe-load it up, smoke it. Let it cool and repeat. They are fun to smoke.

I remember those. Kind of sad I didn’t buy one for the hell of it.

Yes. Smokes dry, and if sipped at a slow pace they do really great. The downside is that they are heavy. They aren’t clenchers.

Not on mine. Stays much cooler than any meer I've smoked. It's also probably 8 times heavier

I will also add to the “heavy” claims—these aren’t clenchers. Very heavy but really great smoking pipes. They are probably the heaviest pipes one could buy.
